Transitioning from nudist to naturist

With most topics I do an extraordinary amount of research before I take a stance. I learned that there is philosophical difference between nudism and being a naturist. Nudism involves being clothes free whereas naturalism involves being not just clothes free but being outdoors as much as possible enjoying nature.

Holla back!

In my quest to embrace, or should I say re-embrace, the nudist lifestyle I sought to connect with other people of color. I say re-embrace because I was well on my way to becoming a true fan of the nudist lifestyle when I was married and lived in Texas. My wife wasn't into nudity and couldn't understand my interest. I was self employed and worked from home much of the time. My clients didn't know my state of undress when I negotiated a contract for training over the phone. Fortunately, this was before videoconferencing became popular. I put this lifestyle on the backburner when I was diagnosed with MS, got divorced, sold my house and moved back to San Diego. Like a brush fire that wasn't completely extinguished, I rekindled my desire for the nudist lifestyle.

Black Nudism: An Update

I found this blog post by Earl D. and I was intrigued. To know that I am not alone is encouraging! What would I do with this newly found information? https://clothesfreelife.com/2016/02/the-state-of-the-community-naturismnudism-and-clothes-free-living-african-americans-and-the-clothes-free-community/

My gift to myself...

This birthday doesn't fall on a significant milestone year like my 50th or one's 75th birthday. It's significant because I'm grown! I decided to treat myself to a few days at a nudist resort to see how I like it and say that I've done that. As a Black professional, I am used to being the only person of color in the room. Now I plan to find out what it's like to be the only person of color with no clothes on! Stay tuned...

Reconciliation of Christianity and nudity.

As a Christian and a nudist I have struggled with this issue. What does the Bible say about nudity? Should people be clothed all of the time? Is it ever appropriate to be unclothed? There are specific times in the Bible that a person was nude. I have read commentaries and a key provision focused on whether the person was nude voluntarily or involuntarily.

"Try it, you'll like it!"

I suggested that a friend try going fabric free in her house with her husband and she declined my suggestion. Her reason is that she's 'scared'... "Sacred of what?", I asked her. "My boobs aren't as perky as they used to be...", she replied.' Is that the reason that you don't take showers? I thought to myself. There was absolutely no logic to her reply. We both knew it, but she had to live with it. People usually say something like this when this option is suggested. To that I simply respond,"Try it, you'll like it!"

Black Nudism: A Historical Perspective

When I considered the lifestyle of a nudist as an African American male I had to consider it from my vantage point. I did some research on Black nudism and Brian J. Hoffman's book Naked: A Cultural History of American Nudism. One of the chapters in his book talks about a Black couple and their experience with segregation and the concept of the races mixing in a nudist setting. Technically we're born as nudism enthusiasts. How many of can remember taking off your clothing and parading around proudly showing off your tiny bits. You were proud of your body and you wanted the world to know it! What happened to your pride and who replaced it with shame?

My Journey Into Nudism As a Black Man

I have had a pragmatic view of nudism for as long as I can remember. My first foray into the lifestyle came as a child when I convinced my cousins to strip off their clothes one Summer at my grandparents house in Virginia. It was purely curiosity that motivated me to do it. There was nothing remotely sexual about it. They are my cousins for crying out loud! We're born naked and Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden naked. Human beings are the only animals that find it necessary to clothe themselves.
